I'll Be Running in My Hippie Skivvies (aka My Underwear). My Friends, Family and Associates Have Made It Worth My While :-) THANK YOU!!!
Welcome to my Underwear Affair Personal Page. As you can see, I’ve joined City of Hope’s Underwear Affair to uncover cures for cancers below the waist. I've registered to do a 10k run, in fact, which is not a normal thing for this hiking/yoga gal to subject herself to.
Although I signed up to participate in this event in May, I hadn't gotten around to sending out a fundraising letter because, well frankly, I wasn't sure I'd be able to pull off a 10k run.
Since then, I've been diligently training. On June 1, I ran my first-ever race: a 5k in Minneapolis. It was terrific. After that race, I continued to build up my stamina. This past weekend, I am thrilled to report, I logged a little OVER 10k during one of my training runs (for the metrically challenged, 10k = 6.2 miles). Now I am confident that I'll be able to stay/keep in shape (and injury free) so that I can stride across the finish line next month - in my tie-dyed undies, from www.HippieSkivvies.com.
MY TEAM IS THE BABY BLOOMERS, AND OUR "UN-UNIFORM" IS FROM OUR UN-OFFICIAL SPONSOR, Hippie Skivvies: CHECK OUT THEIR VERY COOL WEBSITE AT www.HippieSkivvies.com.

Your material support, in the form of a donation, will translate into a powerful psychological bolster for me as I continue to train for this run, esp. during these super hot summer days...
So, where will your hard-earned moolah go, you may well wonder: The Underwear Affair fights prostate, colorectal, cervical, ovarian, kidney, bladder, testicular and uterine cancers. The event is put on by the City of Hope, which is one of the leading cancer research and treatment centers in the country. In fact, "U.S. News & World Report" named it one of “America’s Best Hospitals” in cancer and urology last year.
I’ll be just one of thousands of people gathered on the streets of Los Angeles this summer in the biggest Underwear Affair this town has ever seen! And for the dress-up (or strip-down) fans among you, the event promises to offer an abundance of skimpy outfits -- not that you necessarily want to see that much flesh jiggling around on a run/walk... but I'm sure the costumes will make you smile, even so, if you can come to cheer us all on. Save the date: Aug 2, 2008.
So what can you do to help? You can donate to me! Don’t be shy - it’s about giving these devastating cancers some exposure and shedding some light on their cures. So please help me in my effort to raise money for care and research for cancers "down there!"
Your contributions -- not matter how big or how small -- are greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
